The city of Bainbridge Island bid farewell to three council members at the council’s last meeting of 2017.
Councilmen Roger Townsend, Wayne Roth and Val Tollefson are stepping down at the end of December at the close of their four years of service on the city council.
Tollefson, a North Ward representative, and Townsend, a South Ward representative, both decided against seeking a second term this year.
Roth, a Central Ward councilman, was defeated in his re-election bid by political newcomer Rasham Nassar.
Townsend, Roth and Tollefson were treated to a presentation by City Manager Doug Schulze at their final council meeting, and Schulze gave an extensive talk on the city’s accomplishments over the past four years during the trio’s time on the council.
The threesome were then presented with commemorative plaques by Deputy Mayor Sarah Blossom, the council’s most senior member.
