More than 36 percent (52,089) of the ballots mailed out to Kitsap County residents for the Nov. 2 election have been returned as of 2 p.m. Thursday.

Bainbridge Island had returned about 37 percent (6,368) ballots of the approximate 17,000 registered voters on the island by Monday.

The Kitsap County Auditor’s Office said a return rate of 65 to 70 percent of the 143,796 registered voters is expected for the general election, with the island’s return rate expected to be about 70 percent. The ballots are coming back on schedule as of Monday.

Voters can mail their ballot if postmarked no later than Nov. 2. Currently there is a 24-hour ballot deposit location at the County Administration Building on the corner of Division and Cline in Port Orchard. On election day, voters can drop off their ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at several locations county-wide, including the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center on 370 Brien Dr. SE and the Poulsbo Fire Station at 911 NE Liberty Road, which will also be a voting location on Nov. 2.
