BAINBRIDGE – Emerging slightly the worse for wear Monday, March 26, the Bainbridge High varsity boys lacrosse team capped a three-game non-league series by going 1-for-3 against Sunset, Grant and Columbine.
First, on Friday, March 23, the Spartans fell 11-5 to Sunset at the Islander Middle School field, just their second loss of the season so far.
Goals were scored by Merritt McMahon (three), Andrew McDonald (one) and Jaden Mass (one), and goalie Charlie Shrout managed nine saves for 20 shots.
Things readily improved from there, however.
On Saturday, March 24, the Spartans slid past Grant 12-9 at Mercer Island High School.
The Spartan scoring effort was led by Ethan Peloquin (three), with Ian Morosoff (one), Merritt McMahon (two), Max McLeod (two), Jaden Mass (one), Gavin Jakubik (one) and Charlie Hughes (two) chipping in.
Shrout, again the Spartans’ man in the net, managed 14 saves for 23 shots.
Finally, though, against Columbine at BHS, the Spartan boys found themselves bested again, 9-3, dropping their overall season record to 5-3 (they remain undefeated, 2-0, in league play).
Goals were scored by Max McLeod (one), Charlie Hughes (one) and Bryan Carson (one).
Dawson Friers (2-for-3) and Charlie Shrout (2-for-10) shard the net.
The Spartans returned home earlier this week, hosting Eastside Catholic Tuesday, March 27, and will next play at home at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 against O’Dea (who they recently beat, barely, 9-8 on the road).
