BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans split in varsity tennis Tuesday in a home matchup that featured O’Dea and Holy Names Academy.
The BHS boys varsity team beat O’Dea 3-2, while the Spartan girls endured a
hard fought defeat against Holy Names and their defending conference champion team 1-4.
Spartan Coach Jennifer Shorr gave a special shout out to Asher Van Slyke at No. 2 boys singles who clenched the win 6-2, 6-3 in a beautiful clean match.
Other wins on the boys’ side included Oscar Bray and partner Liam Welch at No. 2 doubles (who prevailed in a three-set win, 3.6, 6-2, 6-4) and Elliot Weyland and freshman Sean Westerhout at No. 3 doubles with a straight set win of 6-1, 6-0.
The highlight of the girls competition against HNA was Madison Culp, who beat Henri Waltz in a straight set victory, 6-4, 6-2.
