BAINBRIDGE – Maddie Loverich hit a grand slam for the Spartans as Bainbridge put an early end to Ingraham in girls varsity fastpitch softball late last week.
It was her second bases-clearing blast in three days, having served up the Spartans’ first grand salami of the season just two days earlier, against Eastside Catholic.
Bainbridge beat Ingraham, 15-0, in last Friday’s three-inning game that was called early on a mercy rule.
The Spartans stepped in front 1-0 after the first inning but the Bainbridge offense exploded with eight runs in the second.
A high number of errors — six — didn’t help the Rams’ cause, and Bainbridge added another half dozen runs in the third.
Loverich finished at 2-of-3 at the plate, with a grand slam homer, four RBIs and two runs
Anna Koslosky hit a triple for BHS and added two runs to the Spartan win.
Three other Spartans had doubles: Ruby Raymundo (1-for-1, RBI, run), Natalie Gillatt (1-for-1, two RBIs, run) and Caroline Michaels (1-for-1, two RBIs).
Sara Colley pitched two innings for Bainbridge and picked up her first win in the circle this season (one hit, zero runs, 3Ks, 0 BB).
The win improved Bainbridge’s record to 4-1 (2-1 Metro League).
