To the editor:

Embarrassing, as defined, means “causing embarrassment” and synonyms include words such as humiliating and shameful.

This defines the Bainbridge Island City Council. I would add deaf, out of touch and imperious.

I have lived on this rock for 32 years, and with very rare exception the people who have occupied the Island’s council are clueless about how business actually should work, arrogant and unaware that they have been elected to provide fiduciary responsibility to the people who voted for them.

They remind me of parents who want to coach Little League so they can “be in charge of something for the first time in their lives.”

There’s been a $35K contract to a South Carolina design firm for a city logo that not only was unnecessary but stupid, the Bridge to Nowhere and the police station debacle not only reek of “We know better than you do” per Dave Shorett’s recent letter to the editor, it smells like demagoguery.

In this case, the liberal version of Trumpian self-importance with sandals and socks.

For the record, I’m a Democrat.

People often ask me why I don’t run for city council if I’m so fed up with what defines Island politics.

My response is simple; I don’t want to end up on the 11:00 news.

Question everything these people do. If you don’t, they will rule instead of serve.
