Bainbridge Island Land Trust is looking for lead stewards, and will host training for volunteers later this month.

According to the land trust, becoming a lead steward is a great way to support the work of the nonprofit and to learn more about its conservation efforts on the island. Lead stewards build a relationship with a conservation landowner, visit a property to conduct annual monitoring (generally on beautiful properties that are not open to the public), write a short report with staff assistance, and support other stewardship efforts on the property as needed.

The total time commitment is a few days each year.

This year’s lead steward training is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14.

For more information, email stewardship coordinator Avery Bowron at avery@bi-landtrust.org, or call the land trust office at 206-842-1216 no later than Wednesday, March 11.
