Thirteen Spartans advance to State track & field meet

SEATTLE – More than a dozen athletes from Bainbridge High placed in the top five of their respective events at the recent 3A/4A District 2 Championships, thus advancing to the state meet.

Even more came up just slightly shy.

“Great job to all who competed in the district finals at [Chief] Sealth on Friday,” said BHS Head Coach Andy Grimm. “A number of Spartans earned sixth place, just missing out on the state tournament.”

The three-day WIAA State Championship meet culminates Saturday, May 26 in Tacoma.

The State-bound Spartans are: District champ Carlo Ruggiero (800-meters, 4×400), Emma Brundige (100-, 200-meters, long jump, 4×400), Emma Chee (pole vault), Kenzie Korican (4×400), Natalie Taylor (4×400), Liz Messinger (4×400), Reese Hill (4×400), Anna Scott (4×400), Carter Hall (4×400), Kyle Hammer (4×400), Leander von Specht (4×400), Evan Kimmerlein (4×400) and Elliott Wndrope (4×400).
