BHS band sends musicians to state

Four soloists and one ensemble from the Bainbridge High School Band will advance to compete at the State Solo and Ensemble competition in April at Central Washington University in Ellensburg after giving top-notch performances at the recent Olympic Educators Music Association (OMEA) Solo and Ensemble district competition at Central Kitsap High School.

Four soloists and one ensemble from the Bainbridge High School Band will advance to compete at the State Solo and Ensemble competition in April at Central Washington University in Ellensburg after giving top-notch performances at the recent Olympic Educators Music Association (OMEA) Solo and Ensemble district competition at Central Kitsap High School.

The soloists advancing to state are Eric Appleberry (tuba), Sarah Jung (violin), Henry Brown (tenor saxophone) and Hayden Tutty (flute).

The Bainbridge Saxophone Quartet (Shelby Sundquist, Kevin McCann, Henry Brown, and Taylor Lhamon) won the small woodwind ensemble category.

Additional Bainbridge students named as alternates may also advance to State, depending on the final number of competitors.

Five Bainbridge soloists and one ensemble were named as first alternates: Shelby Sundquist (clarinet and tenor saxophone), Kevin McCann (alto saxophone), Cristen McCann (flute), and the Bainbridge Percussion Ensemble (Jared Cordell, Jack Bleakmore, Kate Sullivan, Timo Lahtinen, Sam Ross, Spencer Korol, Connor Dalton, Kerianne Wiggins, Wesley Cummins, Seb Hagman and Mark Arends).

In addition, Zac Clark was named as a second alternate for piano and Kathryn Tibbens was named as a second alternate for flute.
