The Kitsap Public Health District has lifted its no contact advisory for Eagle Harbor.
The no-contact warning for people and their pets for the harbor was put in place Sunday, Aug. 10 after 67,000 gallons of sewage leaked into Eagle Harbor after a break in the city of Bainbridge Island’s Highway 305 south sewer force main near the ferry terminal.
Health officials said the city has since completed all necessary repairs and has cleaned up the spill area and stormwater system.
Officials said water samples taken Thursday, Aug. 15 meet water quality standards for contact.
An ongoing advisory against harvesting shellfish in Eagle Harbor remains in place.
The health district also advises people to wash their hands or shower after contacting any natural waters in Kitsap County.
