Monday, Sept. 3

11:45 a.m. Police responded to a theft in progress in a parking lot at the ferry terminal. A man was reported picking money out of a pay box. Police caught up with the man on his bicycle on Ferncliff Avenue. After questioning him, with his pockets clearly full of wadded cash, he admitted that he took the money from the pay boxes. He said he was a heroin user, unemployed, and was stealing money so he and his girlfriend could “get by.” Police discovered $86 in his pockets, and an additional $39 was found in his backpack. He was arrested, cited for theft and released.

Tuesday, Sept. 4

9:29 a.m. Police responded to a noise complaint at the ferry maintenance yard in Eagle Harbor. The reporting party said the noise was above 80 decibels according to a handheld device. Police told the person making the complaint that they should notify the manager at the ferry yard, but the person got angry and threatened a lawsuit. Police contacted the ferry yard manager who said the work would be done within an hour.

10:49 a.m. While at a storage facility on New Brooklyn Road, a woman placed her jacket, with her keys inside it, on the hood of her car. The jacket was stolen while it was left unattended.

Wednesday, Sept. 5

3:07 p.m. A resident on Manitou Beach Drive reported that a prototype rifle that shoots arrows was taken from his home.

Friday, Sept. 7

11:12 p.m. An intoxicated man was screaming in the woods off Madrona Way. When police found him he was laying on the ground screaming and flailing his arms. The man was so intoxicated that he could not stand or walk on his own. Medical aid was called in and he was transported to a hospital for treatment of an alcohol overdose.
