Bainbridge blotter | Out with the wash

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 6

10:41 a.m. Police were called to the laundromat on Madison Avenue where the owner reported a homeless man has made the business his “base of operations” for the last several weeks.

The owner said she’d noticed papers — a movie poster, newspaper clippings, etc. — thumb-tacked to the walls and random items spray-painted, such as sections of wood trim. Also, he keeps his property in a shopping cart behind the building, she said.

She’d once found him spraying a handicapped parking space and confronted him, but the man immediately fled.

The woman asked extra patrols be assigned to the area, which police agreed to do. A report, with a description of the man, was filed.
