HNA sours team’s final home match

The Cougars put the kibosh on any potential smiley Senior Night for the Bainbridge High girls varsity volleyball team, as the visitors from Holy Names Academy stopped the Spartans in four sets.

HNA won 25-21, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-14 in the last home game of the regular season for BHS on Oct. 17.

“Bainbridge put up a good fight against the Cougars and just fell short of a win,” said Spartan Coach Dominique Atherley.

Before the first set, the Spartans honored the team’s sole senior, Morgan Dierickx, during Senior Night honors.

“Morgan, a right side hitter/defensive specialist, has been a three-year varsity player and has been a huge asset to our program — both with her leadership abilities and her athletic efforts on the court,” Atherley said.

“We will miss her next year and we wish her the very best of luck at college next year,” she added.
