Police Blotter
Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:
NOVEMBER 13
2:22 a.m. Police responded to a 911 call from a cell phone at a Bainbridge condominium complex. A female resident was contacted. She had a bloody thumb but refused aid. She said a female acquaintance had departed the complex on foot after attacking her. The resident said the pair had been drinking beer and vodka and began arguing. The dispute escalated until the second woman pushed the resident to the floor and bit her on the thumb. The resident attempted to call 911 but the second woman took the phone away and threw it on the floor. The resident retrieved the phone and was able to call 911. At that point the second woman left the home, taking a bottle of vodka with her. Police asked if the second woman had been injured in the scuffle. The resident said that she wasn’t sure, but remembered biting the woman back. The investigation continues.
6:57 a.m. Police impounded a Jeep Cherokee parked on the corner of Yaquina Avenue and Cedar Street. A note left on the windshield said it had run out of gas. A neighbor told police that the vehicle belonged to a homeless woman who had not returned to it for three weeks.
9:33 a.m. A laptop, bicycle gloves and a book on garage design were stolen from a Toyota pickup parked overnight in a driveway on Wood Avenue. The owner said the truck had been unlocked. The laptop was a MacBook pro with 17-inch screen, valued at $3,500. A calculator and camera charger were also missing. No suspects.
1:07 p.m. An unknown object shattered a rear window of a minivan driving on Winslow Way, between Ericksen Avenue and Norman Place. The woman said she had heard what she thought was something hitting the roof of the van, but later discovered cracks and a small hole in the rear, driver’s side window. Police were unable to determine what had caused the damage.
1:47 p.m. Spray-painted graffiti was reported at the public library. The letters “B,” “M,” had been painted on the eastern wall of the building. The previous day the letters “BSO” were found painted on a window on the north side of the building. Damage was estimated at roughly $100. No suspects.
NOVEMBER 14
9:44 a.m. Police were unable to contact a sex offender at his registered address on Weaver Avenue. The man had two active warrants. Other tenants at the residence said he had not been there for weeks, and thought he may have moved out of the state. Police left messages on the man’s cell phone. A report was forwarded to prosecutors.
12:34 p.m. A school bus driver said a bicyclist had ridden past her bus while it was stopped at the corner of Country Club Road and Toe Jam Hill Road with its stop paddle and red lights activated. A student was crossing in front of the bus when the rider pedaled past. The cyclist was described as a male with short hair. An officer checked the area but could not find a cyclist matching the description. No suspects.
2:15 p.m. A Honda Accord rearended another Honda on High School Road. The driver of the Accord, a Bainbridge man, admitted to being distracted and was cited for inattention.
6:06 p.m. A Volvo 240 ran a stop sign at the intersection of Valley Road and Sunrise Drive and struck a Ford. A tow truck was called in to separate the vehicles. The driver of the Volvo was cited for failing to stop.
NOVEMBER 15
3:06 a.m. A Bainbridge officer driving through Poulsbo en route to Silverdale aided Kitsap County Deputies in apprehending a robbery suspect. A Walgreens drug store had been robbed in Silverdale and a suspect had fled north on Silverdale Way in a white van. The Bainbridge officer volunteered to lay spikes on the roadway in an attempt to deflate the suspect vehicle’s tires. The officer laid the spikes in the northbound lane of Silverdale Way, and within seconds watched the suspect vehicle drive over them, with deputies in pursuit. The sticks deflated three of the suspect vehicle’s tires and the suspect was apprehended a half mile to the north.
7:41 p.m. A resident returned to her apartment on Madison Avenue to find her sink running and a glass light fixture broken. The door to the apartment had been locked with a deadbolt. The woman said her landlord was the only person with a key to the apartment and the locks had been changed when she moved in. She did not suspect him of the mischief. The woman said a similar incident had happened before but she did not elaborate. She also said she often sees suspicious vehicles parked outside that drive away when the occupants notice her. The case was recorded.
NOVEMBER 16
4:05 p.m. A resident reported graffiti on a Madrona Way building. The letters “BSO” were found spray painted on a wall. The case was documented.
8:20 p.m. A Darden Lane resident reported being harassed by the driver of a pickup truck. The resident said the truck had tailgated him and flashed its lights as he drove on Blakely Avenue toward Country Club Road. Later at his house the man saw the truck blocking his driveway. The truck’s driver exited his vehicle and unleashed an abusive verbal barrage on the resident. The driver was apparently looking for a friend. Police were able to ascertain the suspect’s address using the license plate number and he was contacted. The man appeared intoxicated and told officers that he had been attempting to visit a friend who lived nearby but had been cut off by another driver. Later he had ended up in the driveway on Darden Lane while attempting to find his friend’s house and said the homeowner had confronted him and kicked the door of his truck. The man refused a breath alcohol test and denied being intoxicated. Police requested that the man wake up his wife so she could be interviewed. Officers asked her if she knew the friend her husband had been trying to visit. She said the friend lived in Seattle, not on Bainbridge. Police left the man with a warning and requested his wife to make sure he didn’t drive again that evening.
