MaryLou Harvey, 86, of Poulsbo, WA, passed away on December 11, 2018. Born in Portland, OR to Louis M. Johnson and Ada Risley Starkweather Johnson, MaryLou graduated from St. Helens Hall in Portland, and later from Willamette University with a BA in Music Education. In her earlier years, MaryLou was an avid sports enthusiast, who was a downhill skier, enjoyed horseback riding, and even climbed Mt. Hood. She always enjoyed music and was a Cursillo and Youth Encounter leader in the Episcopal Church, teaching many about God’s love. MaryLou devoted her life to raising her four children and creating a loving environment there: a place of warmth, welcome, and acceptance for family and friends. She taught the love of beautiful music, excellent food and the roar of the ocean, as well the quiet of a sunset. She taught faith, love and courage. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Marc Harvey; and brother, Jim Johnson. MaryLou’s memory will live on with her sons, Jeff (Sena) and Chris Harvey (Scotti); daughter, Jennifer Drechsel (Jon); grandchildren, Alyssa (Greg), Lydia, Melina, Anthony (Charissa), David, Emma, Sarah (Sean), AnnaLisa and Jason; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Nellie Parker. A celebration of life service will held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1187 Wyatt Way NW, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110 on Friday, December 28th at 1:00pm.
