FRIDAY, DEC. 7

3:52 p.m. A 46-year-old Bainbridge Island man came to the police station to report an alleged assault which had occurred more than a year ago.

Police told him that since it happened so long ago it was doubtful a prosecutor would consider to charge the suspect. The man asked an informational report be filed anyway.

The man said he’d been assaulted by a fellow employee while working at an island business, that he’d suffered a concussion, a dislocated and cracked shoulder and torn tendons as a result of the attack. He said he’d been going to physical therapy and was taking pain medication as well.

4:52 p.m. Bainbridge police received a call from Suquamish police about a pile of burning mail found near Wide Road NE. The owner of the property on which it was found saw the fire and put it out. He did not see any person or vehicle nearby.

The Suquamish officers saw that most of the addresses on the mail were on Bainbridge Island, and called the Bainbridge department.

Island officers took the mail and noted the victims’ names and returned the mail to the post office.

The mail was stolen from areas near Manzanita Road, Henderson Road, Dolphin Drive, Agate-area roads, Yaquina Avenue, Ferncliff Avenue, Wardwell Road and Bucsit Lane.

A report was filed.
