All women are invited to attend Savvy Women Exchanging Relevant Views to hear Jeanne Goussev tell how a dedicated group of 40-ish local women took on a sailing challenge and made history.

Goussev — a Bainbridge resident and attorney, wife and mother in her land-based life — turns into a fierce competitor on the water in a sailboat. The R2AK, a 750-mile, no motor, no support, Race to Alaska called to her and a crew of similarly minded women. They found a boat, sought sponsors, added two bicycle pedaling stations, trained for months — and went on to win. Their team, Sail Like a Girl, was the first all-women crew and the first monohull to do so — and then they devoted excess funds to breast cancer research.
