What is it you love best about Bainbridge?

For many, it is the natural beauty our island has to offer. It is being part of a community who cares about people, the environment, and a place we call home.

This beauty is being threatened. You may not be aware: There are 34 acres on the market and it’s the last big tract of land to be sold. It’s on the bluff above Rockaway Beach, between Blakely Harbor and Pritchard Park. Think about how we see this bluff from the ferry. We want to preserve this property as public space for all to enjoy!

After touring the property and seeing this beautiful forest (on trails from an old logging road) with views of the Sound, Mount Rainier, and Seattle, it would be devastating for all of us to lose it! There are many reasons to maintain the forest, including cleaner air, replenishing groundwater supplies, maintaining wildlife habitat, reducing erosion/landslides, and making us happier!

This is our home. We have a strong sense of pride in our land. This property is part of our island’s identity. Just imagine this as a public space to enjoy all that Bainbridge Island has to offer.

This is one of the faces of our island! Let’s not deface it with more development. Tell us you want to Save Our Bluff! There are many opportunities in which to be involved.
