One of the area’s premier spring running events, the fourth annual Trillium Trail Run, returns to Bainbridge Island on Saturday, May 11.
Runners and walkers will enjoy a 10K/5K scenic wooded course starting in Battle Point Park, moving along Forest Trail to Sky Trail, and looping among the towering firs of the Grand Forest.
The event is sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation.
Early bird registration with course map for the competitive timed event is underway now at www.biparksfoundation.org. The cost is $35 for the 10K run and $30 for the 5K walk, with all proceeds supporting trail enhancement projects on Bainbridge Island.
Early registration closes at midnight Wednesday, May 8, although runners can also register on the day of the race beginning at 8:15 a.m. Day-of-race registration is $40 (10K) and $35 (5K).
Race packets, including timing chip-integrated bib, will be distributed the morning of the event. The race begins at 9:30 a.m.
New post-race highlights include live music by Seattle funk-soul band Mudjunket, with kombucha on tap and tasty snacks. “The Trillium is a rite of spring for runners from all over the region,” said Barb Trafton, executive director of the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation. “It’s a great way for runners and walkers to enjoy a fun morning workout on our wonderful forested trails, while supporting new and improved trails across the island’s growing network.”
