Bainbridge blotter | Nothing to smile about

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, JUNE 6

8:46 a.m. Police were called to the Bainbridge Island Senior Center on Brien Drive in response to a report of harassment. The manager told them a woman, a familiar transient, had been making people uncomfortable and deliberately leaving things behind inside the center.

Based on the description, police determined the woman, 70, was known to them from previous interactions and an officer quickly found her nearby. Asked if she’d been at the center that day, the woman said yes. She was reminded she was no longer welcome there and told if she returned it would constitute criminal trespassing. She said she understood.

2:04 p.m. A 26-year-old Bainbridge bicyclist struck a car at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Wyatt Way.

The car, a 2012 Ford Focus driven by an island woman, was going east and had entered the intersection after a proper stop. The cyclist did not stop at the stop sign, proceeded directly into the intersection and struck the driver’s side front quarter panel and the hood and windshield. He chipped a tooth and had some bruising.
