Bloedel Reserve will host a romantic evening in its French Country chateau with a special performance by Seattle’s Salsa chanteuse Elspeth Savani and her World Jazz Trio for a Valentine concert on Friday.

Savani, the leader of the Cuban big band Orchestra Zarabanda, combines the traditional Cuban conjunto format and a modern arrangement aesthetic for a sound evocative of Old Havana.

Her 2007 CD “Gallo Que Canta” featured guest artists Jovino Santos Neto, Marco de Carvalho and Anthony Blea, and received much critical acclaim, including a nomination for “Best Emerging Artist” by Earshot Jazz.

On her new CD, “Flights of Mind – Pensamientos en Vuelo,” Savani brings her seasoned vocals — sung in English, Spanish and Portugese — and solid composition chops to the forefront for a journey into new musical territory that includes elements of contemporary pop and modern jazz.

The concert is 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.

Admission is $25 for Bloedel Reserve members or $32 for non-members and include a complimentary dessert. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 206-842-7631 or online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/322477.
