To the editor:
As a third generation Kitsap County resident, I have witnessed the transformation of this region, and seen the challenges facing our community — particularly, around affordable housing. This is especially noticeable on Bainbridge Island, which continues to price longtime residents, as well as future generations out.
The challenges around housing are urgent and electing the same individuals to remedy this problem is not the answer. These challenges facing us today will continue to plague future generations if necessary steps are not taken. We need bold and innovative solutions to complex problems facing us today, and these solutions should come from new voices at the table, not those who have already served. I have gotten to know Anthony Oddo, and feel confident that his expertise and vision will be a valuable asset to the city council. Anthony brings a vast array of housing policy experience, and has the passion and institutional knowledge needed to implement affordable housing.
We are a community of transplants — from military presence to those seeking opportunity and affordability away from major cities. However, we are rapidly pricing families and future generations out of creating a home here. Our leadership should reflect the spirit and inclusivity of our community. Anthony understands this and believes Bainbridge should be affordable and inclusive for all. His experience in housing policy and urban planning, and his depth of knowledge makes him a valuable voice that is desperately needed on the city council. I am proud to support Anthony Oddo for Bainbridge Island City Council, and I hope you will too.
