To the editor:

I am writing in support of Kirsten Hytopoulos for council. She will bring much needed experience and fiscal discipline to the council.

Serving on council in that difficult time prior to the change to a council-manager form, she was a key leader in restoring budgetary discipline as the city financial situation deteriorated and we edged ever so close to bankruptcy. She had a major role in the, ultimately, successful campaign to restructure and stabilize city governance.

Our community is being challenged to address growth pressures, climate change, and income disparities, issues that require fiscal discipline and thoughtful solutions that adhere closely to our comprehensive plan.

As a long-time, contributing member of our community she brings the needed experience and skills to these challenges.

I urge my fellow community members to return her to council! We need her calm, deliberate and experienced presence.
