Michael Pollock has felled another giant.

According to the first vote tally in the 2019 General Election, Pollock is on his way to returning to a seat on the Bainbridge Island City Council.

Pollock was leading in the race for the South Ward, Position 4 seat against incumbent Councilwoman Sarah Blossom.

Pollock collected 56.8 percent of the vote, against Blossom’s 42.9 percent, in the initial vote count.

The actual vote tally stands at 2,684 votes for Pollock, and 2,030 votes for Blossom.

Pollock, 56, is currently a commissioner for the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District, a position he said he’ll give up if elected to the Bainbridge council.

Pollock won a seat on the park board in 2017 after unseating longtime incumbent Kirk Robinson.

Blossom, 42, is at the end of her second term and is currently the longest serving member of the Bainbridge council.

She was first elected to the council in November 2011.

Blossom earned her law degree at the Seattle University School of Law, and her undergraduate’s degree (business Administration) is also from Seattle University.

Pollock is a policy analyst for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He previously served on the Bainbridge council from 1999 to 2003.

He graduated from Humboldt State University (biochemistry) and received a doctorate’s degree from the University of Washington (ecosystems analysis).
