The tested and tough tracksters of Bainbridge High finished strong at the Sea-King District 2 Championships last week, and many of the Spartans punched their ticket to the state meet next week in Tacoma.
The top five athletes in each event advanced to state.
Tyler Cox came in fifth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:00.45.
Taylor Wilson claimed second in the javelin with a terrific toss of 182’9
Jack Odell placed fifth in the high jump. He cleared 5’10.
In girls events, Katelyn Shephard was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.98. She also placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.80.
Mikelle Ackerley took second in the 800-meter run in 2:15.51.
Allison Murphy claimed third place for BHS in the 3200-meter run. She finished in 11:27.89.
Two girls relay teams advanced to state.
The Spartans’ 4×200 relay team of Serena Canner, Bailey List, Danielle Bogardus and Lindsay Wienkers finished in third with a time of 1:46.72. Aerin Amore and Shephard are the team’s alternates.
In the 4×400, Amore, Bogardus, Wienkers and Mikelle Ackerley took fifth place in 4:07.52. Alternates Alison Wise and Cristen Mccann will also go to the state meet.
Danielle Bogardus won third place in the triple jump and also qualified for state. She had a distance of 34’.
Other Spartans finishing in the top 10 at the Sea-King District 2 Championships included Matt Stone, the boys 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams,
Signe Lindquist, Allison Murphy and the girls 4×100 relay team.
Stone claimed seventh place in the 100-meter dash (11.45) and was sixth in the 200-meter dash (23.54)
The Spartan boys 4×100 relay team of Joe Misenti, Issac Pyne, Ryan Abbott and Stone finished sixth in 45.55.
The Bainbridge 4X400 relay team of Cox, Ford Eimon, Tyler Martinez-Green and Austin Harper placed sixth in 3:36.24.
Murphy was sixth for the Spartan girls in the 1600 meter. She finished in 5:24.66.
Lindquist was eighth in the 3200 meter (11:58.29) and 10th in the 1600 meter (5:35.58).
The girls 4X100 of Canner, Bogardus, List and Wienkers claimed sixth place with a time of 51.05.
