Congressman Derek Kilmer will host a pair of town halls this week, and residents in Washington’s 6th Congressional District can participate in both — without leaving the comforts of home.
Kilmer (D-WA) will hold a Facebook Live town hall on Tuesday and a telephone town hall on Wednesday.
The congressman said he wants to hear from constituents about the issues that matter to them.
“I work for the people I represent and it’s important to me that I get opportunities to hear directly from you,” Kilmer said. “I hope folks will be able to join one of my upcoming town halls to share their ideas and concerns.”
The Facebook Live Town Hall is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. Residents of the 6th District who would like to join should log-on to Facebook.com/Derek.Kilmer for the live feed (http://www.facebook.com/derek.kilmer).
At the start of the event, a live video will appear at the top of Kilmer’s newsfeed. Participants who are logged into Facebook should click on the live video to watch the event in real time.
Constituents will be invited to ask questions by entering their first name, hometown and question in the comment. The video will also be available on Facebook after the event for those who could not join while the event was live.
The telephone town hall is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18. Residents of the 6th District who would like to join the call can send an email to kilmer.teletownhall@mail.house.gov with their name, address, and phone number by Tuesday, Dec. 17. Residents who sign up before the deadline will receive a phone call on Wednesday, Dec. 18 inviting them to the telephone town hall.
This week’s town halls are the latest outreach effort by Kilmer.
So far this year, Kilmer has held town halls in Port Angeles, Quilcene, Tacoma, Belfair, Poulsbo, Kingston, Gig Harbor, Montesano, Westport, and Forks, as well as previous town halls on the phone and Facebook.
