MONDAY, NOV. 18

4:43 p.m. An 85-year-old Bainbridge Island man was the victim of an online scam.

“I was asked to buy $400 worth of Google Play cards, and share the numbers with the scammers who were posing as a close friend,” the man told police. “I bought the cards at Bainbridge Safeway, shared the numbers, and now the cards have been redeemed by the scammers.”

A report was filed.

6:17 p.m. A 69-year-old Belfair man was arrested while driving on Highway 305, in the vicinity of Madison Avenue North, for having a suspended driver’s license, violating an interlock device requirement, and having an extraditable warrant out of Gig Harbor.

Police ran a check on the man’s license plate while stopped behind him in traffic, and found the registered owner’s license was suspended and he had an extraditable warrant for driving with a suspended license and violating an interlock device requirement.

He also had another non-extraditable open warrant for a DUI offense.

They stopped the man near the High School Road intersection. He identified himself and admitted he still did not have an interlock decide and said he knew his license was suspended.

He was arrested.

The man claimed nobody was available to come get his car, which was parked in the far-right ferry traffic lane of the highway, and so police had it impounded.
