Savvy Women Exchanging Relevant Views will gather for a presentation on “Land Conservation and GIS Technology” at the group’s meeting next week.

All women are invited to SWERV to learn how scientific data collection is helping local land trusts prioritize just which of our precious natural resources are most vital to protect for reasons varying from wildlife to climate change.

Jane Stone, executive director of the Bainbridge Island Land Trust, and Gina King, a wildlife biologist who is a specialist in GIS (Geographic Information System) technology, will share how land proposed for conservation is assigned a Conservation Value Index number.

SWERV will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Filipino American Hall, 7566 High School Road. Members should come prepared to share your own and community priorities.
