Island wrestlers lick Lincoln

A brief four-bout match saw the Spartans end up on top during a recent trip to Lincoln High School in Seattle.

The Bainbridge High School varsity wrestling team claimed wins in three of the four matches, leaving their host with a negative final score and handily claiming the day.

The sole Lincoln win came in the 126-bound bracket, when Adlai Knutson pinned Levi Field-Bennett in 1:43.

BHS’ Christopher Longridge pinned Seth Kohno in just 23 seconds to win the first of two 138-pound matches, and Quentin Ikuse pinned Lincoln’s Noah Small in 16 seconds to win the other.

Finally, in a 126-pound exhibition match, Field-Bennett took a shot at redemption and made good, pinning Mark Eoff in 1:26.

It was the penultimate match of the Spartans’ regular season, the final outing being a doubleheader against Nathan Hale and Ingraham in Seattle Jan. 30.
