Health officials say state lab has completed tests on Kitsap COVID-19 cases

Kitsap public health officials said Tuesday they would no longer report the number of pending test results in the county for 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that are coming from tests not conducted by the state.

According to the Kitsap Public Health District, there are no additional tests for Kitsap County residents pending at the state public health lab in Shoreline.

Kitsap officials submitted 14 tests to the state lab for processing, and 12 have come back negative. Officials said one test could not be completed, and one test was assigned to a different county.

The Kitsap Public Health District said it would not report pending COVID-19 tests from Kitsap that are being conducted by labs outside of the public health system (which include the University of Washington and LabCorp) because the health district “does not have access to the number of tests submitted to these labs.”

The Kitsap health district said it will continue to report “all negative and positive test results reported to the state.”

Two Kitsap residents — both from Bainbridge Island — have tested positive for COVID-19. Both of those tests were conducted by the University of Washigton.
