City of Bainbridge Island officials announced late Friday that city hall and the police station will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 16 through Wednesday, March 18.
The shutdown was made in response to the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center is also closed indefinitely.
City officials said that Bainbridge Island Municipal Court, which is located in Rolling Bay, will be working next week to adjust its schedule.
Officials said city facilities will remain open to city employees and that Bainbridge “will continue to deliver essential services, such as policing.”
“The closure will allow staff time to focus on internal systems and assess online or other changes to service delivery processes in anticipation of any potential long-term changes that may be implemented through April 30,” the announcement said.
City officials did not immediately say if public meetings planned for early next week, including the city council session on Tuesday, will be open to the public.
