Sebastian Ziz will be the next principal for Woodward Middle School, the Bainbridge Island School District announced Monday.
For the past eight years, Ziz has served as principal for Canyon Park Middle School, a school in the Northshore School District.
“The interview team was impressed with Sebastian’s strong educational background and his vast leadership qualities,” said Bainbridge Superintendent Peter Bang-Knudsen.
Before Canyon Park, Ziz, 41, he served as assistant principal for Bothell High School for three years.
His classroom experience includes teaching high school physics and physical science.
Ziz has served on numerous district-level committees in the Northshore School District, including co-facilitating the Diversity and Equity Team and facilitating the Instructional Technology Design Team.
His years of experience as a middle school principal and his deep commitment to students makes him an ideal principal for Woodward Middle School, Bang-Knudsen said.
He will start working for Bainbridge Public Schools on July 1.
Ziz takes over the helm of WMS from Jeff Hale, who announced his resignation in February. Hale is stepping down effective June 30.
Hale became WMS principal in July 2018, following the retirement of Mike Florian.
