On Wednesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed two additional COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the countywide total of virus-associated deaths to 12 since March.
Nine of the deaths have happened since late July.
Additionally, six new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by the health district Wednesday, bringing the countywide total of positive cases to 1,070 since March.
A total of 34 cases are considered “active” by the district, meaning they are “confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases … participating in daily monitoring.” Another 119 were categorized as “active contacts” or individuals determined to be close contacts of a lab-confirmed case and are participating in daily monitoring. The total number of negative tests is 31,564.
In July, 422 infections were confirmed by the health district -more that month than any other month since the pandemic began. In August, 311 cases were confirmed.
Of the 1,070 total cases, 35 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 335 in Bremerton, 265 in Central Kitsap, 174 in North Kitsap and 261 in South Kitsap.
The breakdown for confirmed positive cases per 100,000 residents in each age category in the past 30 days is as follows:
0 – 9: 56 (6 percent)
10 – 19: 57 (6 percent)
20 – 29: 165 (20 percent)
30 – 39: 150 (14 percent)
40 – 49: 185 (18 percent)
50 – 59: 122 (15 percent)
60 – 69: 63 (9 percent)
70 – 79: 82 (7 percent)
80 and older: 59 (3 percent)
