Because of restrictions caused by COVID-19, people all over Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo were trying to figure out how to celebrate Halloween.

At the Island School, which is holding all-day, in-person, outdoor school, they had a number of fun activities.

Students surprised their teachers with a “Thriller” flash mob. Music teacher Mike Derzon led the dance.

Students also placed Halloween art in the forest at the school, and others went out to discover them.

Other events included: a parade, Baba Yaga stories, haunted forest, gourd dolls and riddles.

Scary events weren’t just limited to solid ground. Some Wizard of Oz type witches were seen on paddleboards out on Eagle Harbor.

In Poulsbo, the Historic Downtown Poulsbo Association put on an impromptu Halloween Car Show. Cars and their drivers were dressed in costume and some tossed out candy to children on the side of the streets.

Also, the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce allowed kids to remain in their vehicles and be driven down the street as businesses handed out treats.
