In honor of its 25-year anniversary, the Bloedel Reserve will host its first-ever sculpture exhibit featuring new work by renowned Northwest artist Julie Speidel.

The one-of-a-kind exhibition will feature 12 unique pieces that were designed to highlight specific areas of the garden and draw the viewer’s eye to areas of the landscape that may otherwise be overlooked.

“I am approaching the placement and coloration of these works to create a sense of surprise,” Speidel said in her artist’s statement. “The way one feels in the moment of an encounter in nature.”

Speidel drew her inspiration from the glacial rocks found throughout the region.

The exhibit is free with admission to the reserve. The display will run from Aug. 30 through Oct. 13.
