The dry weather this week allowed the city of Bainbridge Island’s contractor to continue progress on the Wyatt Way reconstruction project in preparation for asphalt removal and the new sidewalk layout that is scheduled to begin next week.
The next stage of the project detour route will begin Jan. 25. The detour will include:
- Traffic along Wyatt Way NW will be open in both directions, but eastbound traffic will face a detour at Grow Avenue to allow a single lane closure on Wyatt Way NW between Madison Avenue and Grow Avenue for trucks, equipment and staging of materials.
- Grow Avenue will be open in both directions with traffic calming measures.
- Turns from Madison Avenue to Wyatt Way NW will be allowed and access along Wyatt Way NW will be maintained.
- Turns from Madison Avenue to Wyatt Way NE will be limited to local access only.
Drivers using Madison Avenue near Wyatt Way can expect flaggers with moderate delays during daytime work hours.
This detour is anticipated to be in effect through the remainder of the major construction work in mid-March.
Bainbridge Island School District is gradually returning for in-person learning Jan. 25, so people should be aware of heavy traffic surrounding schools throughout the day.
