To the editor:

It seems to many of us that the Island is being over run by sign boards on many of the intersections along Winslow Way and north on Madison Ave.

Now a bigger problem has recently appeared on the roundabout on Saturdays: more sign boards.

We find these signs placed on the circle near the Garden Club plantings particularly offensive and extremely distracting while driving the circle. These sign boards also distract from the beauty of the plantings. We support our local business and appreciate their need to advertise their services and location, but the roundabout is not an appropriate place to put up advertising!

This lovely island we call home seems to be allowing signboards everywhere and forgetting about the beauty in which we live. City officials need to set reasonable rules regarding placement and display and enforce them.

We say STOP NOW the proliferation of sign boards especially on the roundabout.
