Organizer of the political action committee, Common Sense Bainbridge, Gary Tripp reportedly filed a complaint with the city this week against an opposing campaign group, Quality Bainbridge.

The complaint notified the city that a political sign supporting council candidates Wayne Roth, Roger Townsend and Val Tollefson was in violation of city regulations.

Quality Bainbridge obtained permission from a private property owner off of Vineyard Lane 10 days ago to place a 4-by-8-foot sign facing Highway 305.

However, according to city code, regulations dictate that a political sign located in a public right-of-way must be no larger than six square feet, or 2-by-3 feet.

Following Tripp’s complaint, city staff confirmed that the size of the sign exceeded the limitations allowed for campaign signage and that it was located too close to the highway’s shoulder.

Quality Bainbridge members were notified and agreed to remove the sign.

Before the sign could be removed, however, someone placed black plastic with duct tape over the sign. The person has not been identified.
