Majors start state tournament with a bang

The Bainbridge Majors baseball team followed a dominant district tournament with a quick start in the state bracket. Bainbridge won its first two games and will face the district 9 champions from Mercer Island Tuesday in Port Orchard at 7:30.

In the first round match against Kent, it was firepower against firepower. Both teams employed the home run during their district runs. But Bainbridge was able to hold Kent in check, coming out victorious by a score of 8-5.

The next day, Bainbrdge faced district 8 champion Richmond and the defense came to play. Bainbridge shutout its opponent, winning 4-0.

Bainbridge now has a day off to prepare for its next game. The tournament is double-elimination, so if Bainbridge doesn’t came out victorious the season isn’t over.
