Local holiday Rom-Com at Lynwood Theatre

A new Pacific Northwest holiday movie, “A Match Made at Christmas,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Lynwood Theatre.

Following the movie, cast members Shannon Dowling of Bainbridge Island and Jared Hernandez of Seattle will be part of a Question and Answer session.

The family-friendly movie is just short of two hours. Ticket prices range from $9.75 to $12.50.

In the movie, it’s Holly’s lifelong dream to fall in love with the perfect guy, so when she meets skeptical Christmas-hater Chris, she’s not interested. That doesn’t stop Great Aunt Lillian (who’s never wrong) from “pairing” them together—in front of a crowd.

Real feelings start to emerge as their friends and family find ways to throw them together, but Holly’s mistakes and Chris’ stubbornness drive a wedge that seems too overwhelming to overcome. But their time together will teach Chris and Holly lessons about honesty, family and love.

The romantic comedy was written and created by PNW production company Abundant House Films. The film was shot in the Inland Northwest and features regional actors.

Dowling is owner/instructor at the BISA Vocal Studio. She said this movie is a dream come true for her. At a meeting with her agency (MAM Artists), asked what her dream role would be, she replied, “a mom in a Christmas movie.” The agent thought she was joking since most actors want to be a famous star.

But she was serious, saying she has a happy life on BI, raising a child, teaching, performing locally as a musician, acting, directing or producing plays and musicals, and doing periodic film acting, modeling and voiceover jobs.

She said she is grateful to her agency for making this dream come true. Next, she wants to be a mom in a Lifetime movie while continuing to live on BI.

She just finished a run of Lizzie the Musical with inD Theatre playing Bridget Sullivan, and her other recently released COVID-19 pandemic work is available online.
