Film, television, and stage actress Dinah Manoff, who teaches acting at Bainbridge Performing Arts, was so impressed with the pool of talent showing up for her night classes that she decided to produce an evening of one-act plays to showcase their talent.

A “One Act Fest” features six short plays that pack a punch.

“First, I wanted them to be entertaining and compelling, but I also wanted to vary the styles. It’s an assortment platter,” Manoff said.

The “platter” includes: “Judgment Call” by Frederick Stroppel; “Check Please” by Jonathan Rand; “Little Miss Fresno” by Ara Watson and Mary Gallagher; “The Fool” (or “The Retired Captain”) by Anton Chekov; and “This Property is Condemned” by Tennessee Williams.

The Williams play is a personal favorite of Manoff.

“It was the material I used at my very first audition and the one that got me accepted to the Actors Studio.”

The cast showcased in One Act Fest includes Michelle Allen, Jim Anderson, Dylan Arnold, Christy Capps, Robert Craighead, Tim Davidson, Bronsyn Foster Springer, Greer Gibbens, Chloe Hosterman, Arthur Mortell, Steve Nagle, Shaun Pearson, Shannon Sheehan, Kristine Tibbs, Bob Tull, Ruth Urbach, Sue Ellen Van Duyne, Dylan Wilson and Nathan Marx.

Tickets are $10 per person, and may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 842-8569, or at the box office, 200 Madison Ave.
