$20 fee per vehicle is an investment in our roads | Letters | Oct. 29

Only $20 per vehicle fee to be put toward “long delayed road repairs and preservation work” on roads we all use. That’s an investment I can support and hope my island neighbors would as well.

I respectfully ask that council members Bill Knobloch and others do not decide what fees we citizen are ready to dedicate to much needed infrastructure investments while they wrestle with city expenses.

I also hope that council member Kim Brackett understands the difference between a “fee” and a “tax” and is not applying some anti-tax ideology to effective decision-making.

I appreciate not being asked to support vague general taxes but let’s put specifically targeted fees to a vote. And let we, the people, decide where to improve our island’s infrastructure while stimulating our own local economy.
