Since moving to Bainbridge Island 31 years ago, we have come to the realization that a goodly number of its residents care deeply about other folks and about the surrounding environment.
How else can one explain the formation of organizations like Helpline House, the Housing Resources Board, the Senior Center, the Bainbridge Island Land Trust, the Association of Bainbridge Communities, and other charitable groups.
During the recent pre-Christmas snow storms, we were once again reminded of the basic goodness of people.
We received many phone calls from our neighbors and friends inquiring about our welfare and whether we were running short of food or other supplies. In fact some of them also trudged through the foot-deep snow to check on us.
Even though this is Christmas is a time we are all supposed to think and care about others, this loving concern about the welfare of these two snowbound old folks really touched us deeply and so we wish to publicly and sincerely thank all of you.
