An open mind for the Review would be nice | Letters | Oct. 29

I write you as a 27-year islander, a subscriber of equal time to the Review and a thrice-failed candidate for the city council who just happens to be a Republican.

I found it amusing that you rather proudly pointed out that the Review’s advisory group fully agreed with the position of the Democratic party. Why not agree? Having appeared before them several times as a candidate, I found them all to be good community-minded folks but, they all appeared, judging by their questions, to be quite liberal Democrats.

Needless to say both they and you endorsed my opponents, good Democrats all, endorsed by the 23rd Legislative District Democratic governing body. No matter that it was a nonpartisan election.

Perhaps it is now time for the Review to “reach across the line with an open mind” and appoint some Republicans and even some real conservatives to your advisory group so that “Washington’s Best Community Newspaper” may benefit from a true diversity of opinion on the issues of the day. Who knows, such action may even help those all important paid circulation numbers.
