The Bainbridge High School cross country team would like to thank all our community supporters for helping make the past season’s growth and success possible.

Like all school activities these days, our team operates on a tight budget. Equipment needs are few, but community support, program volunteers and a safe variety of trails and parks are crucial.

At Bainbridge High School, the athletic department and the BHS Booster Club put all 78 runners in new (and matching) uniforms in record time.

Poulsbo Running and their Roots Rock trail run series, along with Mike Brooks of Mike’s Car Wash helped our team raise funds for our first-ever overnight trip to the SunFair Invitational in Yakima.

We appreciate the media coverage from both the Review sports section and Town & Country’s dynamic billboard.

Many individual contributions came from XC parents led by Theresa Torseth, Tammy Kesler, and Ellen Murphy. Yoga instructors Michelle Hutchins and Katie Zonoff gave their time and expertise.

And finally, volunteer coaches Paul Benton, Rick Peters and Andy Layton put in many hours, and the required training, in order to assist at practices and meets.

Throughout the year, cross country and track runners benefit from training in our local parks and open space.

We many others, including: the Trails Advisory Committee, trail work-party volunteers, supportive voters, Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District, the Trust for Working Landscapes and Washington State Parks for our fantastic system of parks, trails and public lands at Battle Point, the Grand Forest, Hidden Cove, Gazzam Lake, Johnson Farm and Fort Ward.

Thanks to all those other trail users who kindly share the trails, graciously stepping aside and encouraging young runners as they go by.

All this support has contributed to our fun and success. We’ll see you out there!

BHS cross country athletes,

Coaches Anne Howard Lindquist, Amy Evans, Mike Shiach
