BI city government is clueless about money | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

So I recently received a post card on behalf of city of Bainbridge Island Proposition No. 1, aka, the SAFE Levy.

Before I decided to react to my first impression I decided to go online, per the postcard’s suggestion to learn more.

What I learned is what I suspected: There are no people involved in our city government that has a clue about money and fiduciary responsibility.

This proposal ranks right up there with the path to McDonalds’, the Bridge to Nowhere and the $35K logo that no one has seen applied to anything.

How ironic is it that the logo on the postcard is not the one they paid to have done?

I loved this line on the postcard as part of their “plan” — “additional opportunities to complete other multimodal projects.”

This is just another way to say, “Let us raise your taxes so we can squander the money like we always do.”

People have asked me if I’m so down on our city council, why don’t I run for office.

My answer is simple: I don’t want to end up the lead story on the 11 o’clock news.
