Re: “Neighbors explode over plan for service dog training facility” (March 4).
When I read this story, it saddened me as I know my new home (I’ve only lived on Bainbridge Island for three years) to be a welcoming and empathetic community.
I personally would welcome the good folks at ADH as neighbors. I’m impressed by their well thought out plan of development, by their proven success record, and by their commitment to providing service dogs that help so many live with autonomy and dignity.
I would ask those who feel so strongly against this opportunity to talk with Mo and Will Maurer and respectfully share their worries with them; my thought is that through conversation and better understanding many of the fears can be eliminated and ADH’s good work can go on and be yet another great source of pride for our island.
