To the editor:
Drew Hansen has already distinguished himself as a positive and effective force in the state Legislature. He has sponsored legislation that will create jobs, assist returning veterans and help protect and preserve some of Kitsap’s most precious forests and marine resources in and around Port Gamble Bay.
The bills he introduced passed with broad bipartisan support, proving he is someone who can work across party lines to get things done.
Prior to serving as a representative for the 23rd District, Drew Hansen was appointed by the governor to Washington’s principal economic development board. He has also served on the board of the Olympic College Foundation.
As the son of an evangelical minister, Drew Hansen follows a family tradition of public service and devotion to positive family values. He studied religion as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and graduated with high honors from Harvard University. Along the way he found time to author a critically acclaimed book about Martin Luther King Jr., and the dream that changed a nation.
As a lawyer, Drew Hansen’s many clients have included Native Americans in Alaska who oppose the destruction of their villages by reckless oil companies. He has also represented citizen groups in Texas who are fighting to rein in pollution from coal-fired power plants.
Rep. Hansen’s campaign has received broad support from Republicans, Democrats and Independents who respect his hard work and ability to bring people together. That’s the kind of positive and constructive representation we need in Olympia.
