To the editor:

When the 5 a.m. news hit the airwaves last Friday morning, after three or four minutes of ABC news, KOMO started the local newscast with a detailed account of last Wednesday’s Bainbridge City Council meeting and the brouhaha that followed, involving two well-known citizens.

I could not believe what I heard. My first thought was, “Now everybody in the whole state will know what idiots the this island is” — not just Kitsap County through the Sun and the Island residences through the Review, but the whole West Coast. It even made the Northwest Cable News, which reaches into Oregon.

Everybody in that room that night should be ashamed of themselves and what went on, especially the two “combatants.” Your behavior has humiliated the citizens of this Island.

It seems like every time the new members get a bee in their bonnets, it costs the city a lot of money. The legal issue with Rod Kaseguma, the additional funds now required to settle the manager affair are two that come to mind. According to some of the notes I’ve been privileged to read, it is possible that no one is allowed to reveal what goes on in executive session or when a law suit is being processed. But I don’t feel, in these cases, that is the case.

I strongly advise all of you to drop your swords, buckle on some civility and compromise and try to make it up to the community for your rather barbaric behavior.

Quite frankly, I’m sorry I voted for any of you.
