To the editor:

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to support Kirsten Hytopoulos for the at large position on the city council.

Kirsten has many strong qualities — keen intelligence, commitment to the environment, strong sense of community — but it is her experience on the council that makes her such a strong candidate and someone whom the Island so desperately needs.

Kirsten helped lead the movement to change to a council-manager form of government. She served on the council for four years at a time when the city council was going through a difficult period financially and played an important part in stabilizing finances. She understands how things work and how to get things done. How fortuitous for us all that she’s willing to serve on the council again.

I feel certainly that she’s the person to help lead the council toward consensus and productivity. We need her now!
